It's not fused separately. If your fuel gauge isn't working, you either have faulty wiring to the gauge, or a faulty fuel sending unit.

Where is the fuse for the fuel gauge located on a 1998 Chevy Malibu?

It is actually a multifunction fuse that controls a variety of things like your day time running lights, your a/c, the fuel gauge, and your day light sensor. The cruise control fuse is the one you're actually looking for. It is a 10A fuse in the right I/P junction block on the passenger side of the dash board.

Need to know if there is a fuse or for fuel level gauge reads correct level but goes back to empty every couple mins then back to correct level and where would it be located?

You must have a 1998 or newer truck. There is no FUSE for the fuel level gauge. Now there is a fuel leveling sensor on the sending unit that is inside of the fuel tank and that is what controls your fuel gauge. It is common for the sensor to get coated with suffler that is in today's fuels / Gas. You will have to remove the FUEL LEVELING SENSOR That's in the fuel tank and REPLACE it with a new one from the Chevy dealer.

Could the fuel gauge have a blown fuse?

Most vehicles have one fuse that protects all the gauges so if the fuel gauge is the only one not working, the fuse is probably okay. Most causes for a inop fuel gauge is a faulty fuel gauge sending unit in the fuel tank.
