Where is the fuse located for the Convertible top switch on a 1998 VW Cabrio?
\n. \n Answer \n. \nI had a 1997 and in order to change the rear bulbs you needed to go in the trunk and behind where the tail lights are there should be a plastic cover. If you remove this you will see the bulbs. You can then replace them with a similar bulb.\n. \nAdditional Info:\nReplacin…g the bulbs is actually a piece of cake. You don't even need a tool.\nOnce you remove (unsnap) the black plastic cover, you'll see three screws. These screws hold the tail light assembly to the Cabrio body. No need to take the nuts off however (just thought you'd want to know in case you ever want to remove the tail light. Just below, and inward of the top two screws are two tabs...squeeze them together with your fingers and gently pull... the bulb mounting plate will unsnap from the tail light assembly. All of the bulbs are mounted to the plate and are simply twisted and pulled out for replacement. The Cabrio takes a 7506 bulb for the stop, blinker, and back-up lights. Snap everything back together and your finished. Happy motoring... ( Full Answer )

How can you get the soft convertible top of a 1998 VW Cabrio convertible back up when it is stuck in the down position and the button doesn't seem to work?
I've had luck with having someone press and hold the top up button while manually pulling the top up. We found the top on my friends car could also be lowered this way - by holding the top down button and manually lowering the top.. If you open the trunk and look on the left side, you will see the …cover. This contains the motor for the top. There should be a round plastic cover, if you pull this off you will see the motor. There will be a handle, which you want to turn left to release the pressure in the motor, this will let you manually lift and close the top or open. If the motor is okay and you can use it, then you must turn this handle to the right, in order for the pump to pressurize. ( Full Answer )

Answer To the right of the rear window defroster button, behind a plastic cover. Just pop it off with a flat head screw driver. On my 1998 Cabrio, I found it to the right of the ash tray. Remove ash tray then slide the cover to the immediate right of the ash tray to the left to reveal the OBDII …connector. ( Full Answer )

If you hear the pump running, remove the plug in the cover of the pump located in the trunk and see if the fluid is low. If it is low you should check for leaks as it is a closed system.. The other option is open the "T" knob (CCW) and you can operate it manually.
HOW DO I find the fuse amp order for the fuses located in the fuse box on top of the battery 03 VW JETTA?
Often the order of the fuses will be listed on the inside of the cover for the fuse box.
Mechanic that once worked at VW dealer told me it was hydraulic fluid, better know as power steering fluid. He recommended buying from the dealer to keep the same quality when adding to the reservoir.
The directional light cover swings open like a door. This will give you access to the bulb.
Answer . It means the same as on any other car on the planet. Nothing wrong with your engine (probably) the light is all about your exhaust emissions system. Amazingly enough, the most common reason for that light coming on is that you did not tighten your gas cap enough clicks when you last fil…led up.. Sometimes when you next fill up and tighten the cap properly it will clear the light because the tank is pressurized again. SOmetimes the light needs to be reset. AutoZone will "read" you computer and confirm what the light means if you still have trouble with it. Unless your car is driven at 20mph everywhere, your catalytic convertor is probably ok. Hey, it's easy. Put emergency brake on. Open the trunk, look to the left and take off the round piece holding the mechanism. Just turn the little screw thingy counterclockwise--then go up front and unlatch and pull your roof down manually---then go back and tighten up the screw clockwise. When I fou…nd out how much it cost to replace the mechanism so it would work automatically, I figured manual's much easier and cheaper! ( Full Answer )
On a 99 there is a cover located on the left side of the trunk. Pull out the 3 ince plastic plug and turn the "T" handle valve CCW.
If you climb under the car you will see it a little to the right of center.. In order to change it you need to drop down the power steering housing. I just tried to replace mine and it was a chore - I ended up towing it to my car guy who told me after that the probability of me doing it was slim - …he even said it was a pain to do.. It's the car- everything on the 01 is PITA ( Full Answer )

Any kind of oil you choose. 5w30 will be thinner thus can burn faster but better for MPG...15w40 will be thicker put keeps oil pressure higher once engine reaches higher temps
Underneath the boot well, behind the rear seat. Remove the back seat and lift the flap and you will see the pump and the relay assembly.
Behind the rear seat. Pull up on the seat bottom to release the seat bottom from the car, remove the bolts anchoring the seat back to the car, push upwards (towards the roof) to disengage the clips, and lift up the insulation to expose the pump

Not that you can find. No instruction on exactly how to install the glass rear window after you have replaced the top. It's like it is a great secret. I'm beginning to wonder if there is anybody that really knows.
The fuel pump is located in the gas tank. You will need to drainthe gas tank in order to access the fuel pump.
Open trunk. The pump is encased in two black Styrofoam halves secured by either a bungee cord (2002 models) or tie wrap to the very aft right hand side. If you have the CD changer, it is directly behind that. There will be one vacuum tube and one electrical connector.
For my automatic top all you have to do is put the keys in, make sure the car is in park, and that the emergency brake is on. You hold the bottom of the button for the power top on the dash. I dont have to have the brake pedal down.
Location depends on make, model, & year which you failed to list. Your owners manual will list the location.
I have it but even if you have electrical expirience. The diagrams are a pain the way they are drawn. I have a manual I purchased which covers ALL details of the car not just the back yard mechanic stuff.
VW sells the oil at $25/quart. Another VW book I read said Dextron III power steering fluid is fine.. If you have low oil and the top doesn't work look out for hose leaks and hydraulic cylinder leaks! Cylinders are behind panels next to rear seat. It's a closed system and should not become low. …By the way putting in the fluid is a drop at a time situation, a real pain in the ___ ( Full Answer )
Take it to someone that does it for a living. Has to be pressed in. It a real pain if you don't have a press It a pain just to get it off, Has to be aligned when put back on
I replaced two leaking lines. I bought high pressure 1/8" ID hose online (several sites have it). Each line is individually removable. At the pump end, each pair of lines is held in the pump body by a star-head screw. Remove the screw and just pull out the fitting. End fittings can be re-used by …carefully cutting around the crimped area about 1/8" from the end and grinding it flat. It will pull off, exposing the hose underneath. Carefuliy, without damaging the barbs, cut the old hose off. Push the barb into the new hose. If you can find small hose clamps (not the type with a worm screw, but one with a nut & bolt which applies a clamping force evenly over the whole circumference) use these to secure the end. If not, you can use 18 ga. steel wire, wrapped twice around the hose and twisted like a twist tie. Put three or four of these twist wires around the new hose over the barb area. Careful with the little O rings in the fittings while doing all this. Total cost to replace all lines is about $30 + 3 hours work. Good luck! ( Full Answer )
They are two fuse boxes-one is on the drivers side near the back and the other is under the hood-you will see it when you raise the hood-right side.
If your seat heater isn't working it's likely the relay which is located underneath the seat. mine is also broken and the part is almost $100 fromt he dealership to replace - I have not done so. :-) you could check out a local junkyard though for a totaled car that still has them
I cannot seem to find the fuse location for my cigarette lighter the manuel states under the hood.
Trunk, driver's side, remove the carpet like panel. I believe ther are four screws holding the panel in place.
It's located in the gas tank. You can get to it by pulling out the top cover in your trunk.
( # 20 ) is a 15 amp fuse for the convertible top switch ( located in the passenger. compartment fuse panel , below and to the left of the steering wheel by the brake. pedal . Remove the panel cover to access the fuses .
In the fuse box, it is #3 15amp which is blue. Also connected to the back side of the radio itself there may be a red 10 amp one.
On the 4-cylinder 2.0, the thermostat is located just below the water pump and above the power steering pump. To access it, you must remove the power steering pump and bracket. Leave the pump connected to the bracket. There is no need to separate them. Remove the power steering pump & bracket by fir…st removing the belt from below. Then remove the bolt that holds the top portion of the power steering pump bracket onto the bracket that holds the water pump, A/C compressor, and alternator. It is a bit difficult to tell which bolt to remove. It is the 13mm bolt, not the 17mm. Then remove the two bolts that hold the power steering pump bracket onto the engine block. I would also remove the clamp that holds the power steering pump hoses located near the center of the car. You can leave the hoses connected and let the pump hang if you are careful. Cover the pump with a bag so that you don't get coolant on it. Remove the two bolts holding the thermostat housing in place. Make sure you have a large plastic container to catch the coolant. I wish new cars had drain plugs like the old cars. Coolant splatters everywhere. Pull the thermostat & O ring using pliers. Clean the surface and replace the thermostat and the O ring. You may have to loosen the nuts holding the power steering adjustment bracket to get the power steering pump back in place. ( Full Answer )
I can't find it either. I checked just under the windshield on the pasenger side. There is an air intake but no filter. My AC/heat blows stinky air. Smells like a mildewed filter. I also looked behind the glove box.

How can you get the convertible top of a 1988 VW Cabrio convertible back up when it is stuck in the down position?
On both sides of the rear panels are latches with arrows on them, they have to be released. They lock in position when the top is put down and the rear of the top on both sides is pushed down.
You need to get down low underneath your steering wheel and there you will see a fuse panel cover.
Hopefully you've found it by now, but it's in the trunk. Should be on passenger side.
There isn't one, I have cruise problems too, friend said cruise module behind or above fuse panel may be out, he said if turning signals work it's probably not the on/of cruise switch. VW dealer wants 150 just to see it so planning to sell it.
I have a 2001 VW Cabrio and the fuse box is located under the steering column on the left side. It's a rectangle box with two slots on the short side that open the door. The door should be a flip down and the inside of the door has the fuse "map" for what each fuse affects.
The right person to ask would be either someone who owns a 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier or a mechanic at a Chevrolet dealership. This question is too complicated to answer in a simple manner.
