Open hood and look down. It's screwed to the frame directly above the radiator and to the right of your airbag sensor (if you have airbags). Look for the black wire.

The VIN number is not located on the engine, it is as a rule located on the front of the bike frame. The engine has the engine number, which is different from the frame or VIN number. Look for it on the top front of the frame, just below or to the rear of where the handlebars column is placed in the frame.

You can connect the battery ground cable to the frame of the vehicle or to the engine.
Connect a ground wire to what? If you mean from the engine block to the firewall or frame - it ia always recommended that a grounding strap be connected between the two.
