as you are sitting in the drivers seat, it should be under the dashboard on the left side at arms length. Reach under the dash and you'll feel the hadle hidden there. Pull down and the hood should pop-up.
It is located left side of the instr. panel on the bottom... flush mount... do a headstand and look under the dash and there it is!!!
the fuses in a pontaic fiero are near the front hood release, it is a black box looking thing that has a button on the front. when you press the button the tray of fuses release and fall down in a near 90 degree angle.
on a sticker located on the underside of the hood on the right side
The front hood raises from the rear or windshield end, the rear hood raises from the rear or bumper end
Opening the hood on a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am is very easy to do. The hood is opened by pulling on the hood release latch inside the car on the drivers side. After the latch is pulled the hood will release. The hood is then opened by pulling the second release under the hood.
The front hood release leaver is under the dash near the door. the tail hood release is a grey button on the right side of the gauge cluster.
This is kind of neat: The fiero comes with a second cable already installed. Remove the hood release handle and there should be a cable end hanging there. Pull and release the hood. The replacment proceedure is undo damaged cable from hood latch, tape the new to old, follow the camle to the bulkhead and release all the hold down clips and gromits, use the old to fish the new through the car, re-conect.
open the front hood, on top of each light assy. there is a black knob, turn it in whichever direction you need to open or close. if you want them on automatic, try the relays first. there is one for each light & one main for both in front of drivers light.
The fiero front hood release cable has an extra cable tucked inside the release lever housing. If they're both broke then you'll have to use a crowbar and lightly pry up on the hood but be extremely carefull not to break the fiberglass hood. Take a long flat tipped screw driver and remove the foam padding around the latch then take a 10mm stubby wrench and remove the 2 bolts holding the latch to the car then just raise the hood and trip the latch. Remove the old cable and install a new one.
Assuming you are speaking of the front hood, and not the rear engine cover, yes, the 1987 hood will fit the 1984 Notchback. All front hoods are the same, 1984 through 1988. There is a vast parts interchangeability including exterior, interior, electrical, chassis, engine, and transmission, with the 84 through 87 models. Some changes were made in 1988, for instance larger brake rotors, better suspension, etc. so not as many parts are interchangeable with the 1988 and the other years.
Open your hood. Its in the middle between the AC aluminum thing and the brake booster. Simple one wire harness, these things are cake, 50 times easier on the fiero cause you dont have to sit on your head. Make sure its not the blower resistor first.
This can be rather tuff........you must grab the hood release cable from the underside of the vehicle. Sometimes, you can trip open the hood latch with a long screwdriver, if you know where to do it.
