Where is the ignition module located on a 1991 Mercury Capri XR2 Turbo?
Here's a link to Midcomustang.com FAQ it tells you where all the sensors are located http://www.midcomustang.com/engine_emission.html
Igintion Module or Igniter Assembly is located in the distributor... I have a PDF on how to change this!
Inside the distributor, basically the first component you'll see and have access to once you remove the distributor cap. It has two Philips headed screws holding it in and two wires connected to it via push on blade connectors. If you're familiar with the old points and condenser ignition it is located where you would expect to find the points in other words.
Answer testing ignition module not all part stores have the ability to test ignition modules,a sure sign would be discoloration of the module or if the outside of the module has a softness to it if neither is apparent you could go to advance auto stores and they do have a peice of equipment to test your module, I used to work at a advance auto parts store
My 93' Mercury Capri wont start and when it does start it wont stay running i know it is not the fuel pump or filter ignition coil or rotor cap does anyone have any other ideas i can try?
inside the distributor its a black module with 3 wires on it , it is made of 2 peaces 2 screws hold it on useally the sytoms for a bad module are the care wont start the car i turns over the fuel pump works , there will be No SPark comming from the coil so don't be tricked by the coil not given spark, common reson why 91 to 94 Mercury capis wont start
