The knock sensor on the 97 2.5 gt is under the intake manifold more toward the firewall. It is bolted down to the engine block with a 12mm head bolt. It is round and black, a little bigger around then a quarter, and about an inch tall with a black wire that's about 6 inches long with a white plug on the other end which is connected under the intake more towards the passenger side.
It is pretty tricky to get the new one lined up and the bolt started. I used a long magnet stuck to the bolt to get it in the hole and started.
It took me about an hour to get it changed just because of how tricky it is to get to. With the right tools it would only take 10 minutes.
GOOD LUCK HOW THIS HELPS.
It is threaded into the block, under the intake manifold.
It only involves one bolt and one wire, but its pretty difficult to access as it lives under the throttlebody.
Under the sea.
