The Knock sensor is on the back side of the engine underneath the intake manifold. If you do not have the intake off you will need to get under the car and above the oil filter to the left you will see two sensors. One is close to the oil filter and the other is up to the left more by the intake. The one that is close to the intake is it. It is usually blue or black and it has a wire clip coming out of it with wires going to the wire harness. This is a very expensive item running about $150.00 on average so make sure that it is bad before you step up to replace it. Most do it your selfers would pass on this just because of the cost and the fact that to test this sensor you would need a scan tool to diagnose the function of this sensor. Some shops or auto parts stores will scan your vehicle for free and if it comes up with the engine code that the knock sensor has problems check basics first. Is it plugged in? Is there power going to it? Are the wires in good condition? If the answer is yes to all of these questions and your check engine light is coming on and the only code is there is a problem with the knock sensor then it is probably something to get replaced.
In between the bottom of the intake manifold and the oil filter. It is really hard to do it by yourself with little to no mechanical skill.
