it is on the passengerside on the back side of the motor about half way down.
On a Cavalier 05, with an Ecotec 2.2L the oil filter is at the front of the engine, from above, to the right. It's a black cap that can be opened with a 1 1/4 inch socket wrench, with extender. The filter snaps onto the bottom of the black cap with the point on the filter facing down. The black cap will be facing up at you. Most newer Chevy Cavalier's have a paper oil filter, located on the TOP of the engine normaly on the driver's side.
The Cavalier fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. The tank has to be removed from the car to get access the fuel pump.
As with all valve gaskets it is located between the valve cover and the head. To get to it you undo all bolts holding the valve cover on and then pull valve cover off. you will find it on the valve cover/ head contact point.
The oil filter is located on the right hand side of the engine at the top below the intake cover remove that by unscrewing the clamp at the connecting point with a long screw driver You will need a big socket to remove the plastic cover, it looks like a motor mount at first but the oil filter snaps into. be sure to drain the oil first or it will be very messy....Bill
between the fuel tank and the fuel injection point
Mid point of van, on the inside of the passenger side "frame rail"
== == Go to your local Chevrolet dealer's parts department and ask the parts counter man. He will point out the correct fluid on the shelf, and then you buy it, and put it in your car. Problem solved.
There's a small oil filter that gets blocked up. It needs a clean. Sorry I can't be more specific but that's what my mechanic indicated when this was happening to my '91 cavalier. . Charlie As Above, I remember a filter getting blocked in the air filter unit, But: Given the age of Cavalier's these day, it's also quite possible that the engine is just "worn out". IE the bores in the block and the rings on the pistons have worn past the point they were designed to, and now combustion gasses are getting into the crank-case, and over pressurising it, causing the problem you have.
On top of motor, in front look for the black 8 point 36 MM housing
just forward of the left rear wheel inboard of the jack point under the car.
