There isn't one. You have to remove the round plate on the bottom of the engine. Inside you will find a screen dome. You will need to replace it along with the seal. Put it all back in place and add 2.5 quarts of oil. It is a good idea to have the heads adjusted at the same time as an oil change, but remember that need to be done on a stone cold engine. If you go to www.mamotorworks.com you can get the oil seals and screen for a couple of bucks. I would change out the trans fluid if this is you first time doing any of this (just bought it or something).
On my 79 Fuel Injected Beetle the oil filter is a screen located underneath the engine.
The 1974 VW Super Beetle engine oil capacity is 3.5 quarts. Three quarts of oil will be in the engine and one half quart of oil will be in the oil filter.
where is the oil filter on a 2008 vw beetle
There isn't an external oil filter on a STOCK Beetle. There is a screen that is suggested to be cleaned/replaced. There is a plate that the drain plug is screwed into that has 8 or so small bolts that holds it in. Just order a "Beetle Oil filter Kit" and it will have it all included. If you have an aftermarket external filter then it will usually take a Pennzoil PZ1 or a Fram PH8A filter.
My friend i will tell you about new beetle 1.6.the oil capacity including the oil filter is 5 litres.
Bump
2.5 litres.
The oil capacity of a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle is 5 quarts. This includes oil filter which is typically replaced during maintenance.
If you do not see a screw on type filter then your Beetle has the filter or screen under the drain plate. Remove the 6-8 small bolts holding the plate in place and you will see the filter.
4.8 quarts with filter
Without the filter is about 2.75 quarts, With the filter should be 3.75 qts.
