If you have a Mazda 6i, the filter is at the bottom front of the engine. After removing the plastic splash guard on the car, you will see a black cap with a hexed metal center plug. The oil filter is not the traditional spin on filter and uses a filter cartridge. Be careful when unscrewing the black cap as oil will spray out. It is quite messy, so I recommend rubber gloves.
