I have a 96 olds cutlass supreme 3.1 liter that I recently charged the AC. I used the 134A refrigerant. The refrigerant that I purchased had a fitting for the small port. I had some difficulty finding the small recharge port. At first, all I could locate was the big port and it is on the driver's side, between the Air cleaner box and the wheel well. But, there are two. Yes, there are two ports on most vehicles I have seen. A big port and a small port. Which I later located the small port on the driver's side UNDER the Air filter box. First, take loose the top section of the Air cleaner box (4 Screws philip/flat), then unscrew the hose clamp at the back of the top of the air cleaner box (flat). Take out the air cleaner (good time to change it if it needs it), then there is a bolt in the bottom of the box, but I can't remember what size it was, then lift and push it towards the radiator to remove. Then you will be able to see the small recharge port. Attach the refrigerant hose, start the engine, turn on the AC and push the button. It will suck in the refrigerant when the compressor starts. Don't put the AC on the MAX setting, just AC and turn the fan wide open.
The low side service port to recharge the AC on a 1997 Olds Cutlass Supreme is at the rear of the engine. It is close to the firewall.

There is a recharge(low end) near the top back wall of the engine compartment. Its almost like you are looking straight over the engine with the engine at eye level. That is the gauge where you recharge the air conditioner.
