On the 93 escort, brother to Tracer, there was only a breather valve at the top of the transmission and fluid needed to be added by removing an access bolt OR it had a small yellow dipstick at the top of the transmission.
It's on the starter.
The starter solenoid is attached to the starter. When you replace the starter, you'll get a new solenoid.

Follow the positive battery cable; first it goes to the starter solenoid then to the starter. I hope this helps you. Mark
no obd2 readers only read most vehicles 96 and newer , you'll have to take it to a mechanic and have an obd1 read on the computer diagnostics
Ford and Mercury's fusible links are usually connected to the battery side of the starter solenoid.
