You can find the starter at the lower front part of the engine. You can change starter easily any time it has a fault.
Near the top of the belt there is a belt tensioner; it has a pulley attached to it. It is spring loaded and there is a provision to attach a breaker bar to force back the spring; once you do, it is easy to remove the serpentine belt.

The starter is located underneath the car, easy to get at. There are 3, 10mm bolts you have to remove first to take the plastic shroud off covering the fly wheel. After you remove the shroud, the starter has 2, 15mm bolts holding it up, remove them. Position the starter so it will sit up in place while you remove the two small nuts holding the wires to the solenoid. Take off the wires and pull down the starter. Done! This is for the 1993, with a 6 cylinder,

The Starter is not easy to change. First thing " Disconnect the battery". The starter is under the intake manifold and bolts into the transmission. You need to remove the intake and all related hoses and plastic parts as well as the hard plastic cooling pipe that basically sits above the starter. There are 2 bolts that hold it in and one is easy to get at and the other is a bit more difficult.
