On the front of the engine in the center of the "V".
Remove the water supply hose from the top of your 2000 Mercury Villager thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. The old thermostat will simply lifts out. Drop in the new thermostat and reverse the process.

Follow the top radiator hose at the end of that hose is the thermostat housing. The thermostat is located under the thermostat housing.
The water pump does not have a "tensioner".

removed thermostat on 98 Bonneville and also removed rubber seal -- cannot get the old seal back into the housing.... help
There is one timing belt and three accessory belts.

There are several things that can cause your 1998 Mercury Villager rear fan to stop working. The most common cause is a disconnected or corroded ground wire.
This indicates a no-charge situation. Most likely the alternator is bad.
Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine - the thermostat is in the bulb housing that that hose attaches to.
