Thermostat located inside radiator cap on overflow container , rated for either 12 or 15 P.S.I .. easily located , if hood is open while facing car it will be to your right hand side between the main fuse relay box and container for brake fluid.. D.M.

Follow the upper radiator hose back to the engine, it is connected to the thermostat housing on the engine. The thermostat is located under the thermostat housing.
It is located at the bottom of the engine. It's the hose coming off of the bottom of the radiator. The thermostat is located at the other end of that hose, next to the engine on the thermostat housing.

You did not mention the engine size. Regardless, it is in the thermostat housing on the intake manifold.
The thermostat at the engine in a 2000 Mercury Villager is located Êon the right passenger side near the middle. You should look for the jiggle valve on the thermostat that should be facing up.
