It's located on the crank shaft pully at the front of the engine.The timing for a '91 Pathfinder with a V6 is 15 degrees below top dead center. Check out the the link I left for a picture. It is probably the dimmer switch. The contacts in the switch will get pushed back and when you switch to dims they will not touch. Had the same problem on my 91 Nissan.
