there is no drain plug.... if you crawl under your van you will see a black pan (or at least it is on my 2005)directly behind your oil pan! Reason being why would you change tranny oil without changing the filter?
On a 2004 Ford Freestar : The transaxle ( transmission ) is located in the engine compartment on the drivers side . It is bolted to the " rear " of the engine
on the oil pan underneath the engine toward the right
There is not a drain plug on the Freestar - a good old fashioned siphon hose will do the trick.
It don't have 1. You must remove the transmission pan to drain the fluid.
The drain plug is located between the shocks.

there is no coil on 2004 freestar 3.9L engine. it is only an ignition module and it is located in the back of the engine by the firewall.
There is no drain plug. You remove the pan to drain.
On a 2004 Ford Freestar : The thread on cap on the engine coolant reservoir is the pressure cap / radiator cap
I would check and see if you have a transmission or PCM problem.
