The dipstick is located on the right hand side of the engine bay towards the back under the throttle cables. they tend to get in the way of pulling out the dipstick straight out. make sure the car is running while checking the tranny fluid.. cougarts are known to have tranny issues so while checking it make sure the fluid is clean and still red and doesnt have a burnt smell to it... hope this helps
On a 2000 Mercury Cougar : No , only the automatic transaxle ( transmission ) has a dipstick
On a 1995 Mercury Cougar : The automatic transmission fluid level dipstick is in the engine compartment , near the firewall , towards the passenger side of the engine ( at the rear of the engine where the transmission is bolted to the engine )
use a funnel and add it to the dipstick tube
The starter is located on the front side of the transmission in this model of the Mercury Cougar. If you need to work on it make sure the transmission is cold so as you do not burn yourself.
On the bottom of the transmission.
It is important to know the location of all fluid dipsticks when owning a vehicle. The transmission fluid dipstick is towards the back of the engine, near the window and has a black cap.
it is located in the back right corner of the engine compartment, it is back down in there a ways it is lower than the valve cover. I believe it has a red or yellow handle i dont remember
It is kind of weird but the fluid goes into where the transmission dipstick comes out of. Just get a long skinny funnel.
I heard that you pour it into the tube that holds the dipstick where you ckeck the transmission fluid. They said use a funnel and pour it in the tube the stick goes in.
Stand at the front bumper of the Cougar (with the hood up & securely supported by the metal prop) and look to the right toward the back of the engine compartment on the driver's side. The transaxle dipstick is located between (behind) the air filter housing and the master cylinder reservoir (in front & to the right of brake fluid). I think the handle on the dipstick is yellow (or some color other than black).
Add through transmission dipstick tube
The filter is actaully located inside of the transmission itself.....you would have to remove the transmission and tear it apart to get to the filter
