Where is the turn signal flasher location on a 96 mercury grand marquis and you do you get to it?

On my '97 it's under the dash, incorporated into a control assembly which cannot be repaired. You have to replace the whole assembly and it's expensive. Look under the dash just the the right of the steering column and find a small black box, about 5 inches square and about an inch and a half thick. If yours is the same as mine, that's it.
