The upstream heated oxygen sensor is located ahead of the catalytic converter The downstream heated oxygen sensor is located behind the converter
The upstream O2 sensor is mounted in the ehxaust manifold The downstream O2 sensor is mounted in the exhaust pipe after the catalytic converter
The upstream oxygen sensor is located in the exhaust pipe between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter The downstream oxygen sensor is located at the catalytic converter outlet
There are 2 sensors The upstream O2 sensor is mounted in the ehxaust manifold The downstream O2 sensor is mounted in the exhaust pipe after the catalytic converter
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I assume that would be : Bank 2 , sensor 1 Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine in a 1999 Ford Explorer Sensor 1 would be the oxygen sensor somewhere in the exhaust before the exhaust enters the catalytic converter ( upstream sensor )
Four
How many oxygen sensor on your 1999 3.5 rl?
upstream sensor will be located before the cat downstream sensor will be located on the cat itself
1)Upstream sensor is located in the "y" pipe ahead of the catalytic converter. 2)Downstream sensor is located between the catalytic converter and the expansion chamber.
There are two oxygen sensors one is called the upstream oxygen sensor located in the exhaust manifold and one downstream directly behind the catalytic converter. I think the one you are looking for is mounted in the exhaust manifold sometimes referred to as bank 1 and sensor 1 being the first in the exhaust system. Hope this helps you.
The upstream 02 sensor is usually located shortly after the exhaust manifold, before the converter. That is the one that controls how the car runs. The downstream sensor, after the converter tells the computer if the converter is doing it's job or not. It does not affect performance, but you might have to live with a check engine light being on. There are probably 2 of each on a V6.
The upstream o/2 sensor is located in the exhaust system between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter. Some vehicles will have 2 upstream sensors (i.e. 1999 Chevy astro 4.3l engine has sensor for left exhaust manifold and another for right exhaust manifold). I am trying to find out for sure if you have to replace both when one goes bad. Bosch says both must be replaced!!!??? Oh yeah it(they)are easy enough to replace if you can see it (them).
