Where is the valve for refilling freon in a 1993 Ford Explorer Eddie Bower?
On top of your air conditioning accumulator ("can") on the passenger side of the engine, around 5 inches or so from your heater/air conditioning electric fan motor. It has a plastic cap covering the valve.
Ford explorer how do you bleed the cooling system i have fitted a new stat now have air lock any help much appreciated?
Whenever the freon filled system is opened air gets in and to remove it you attach a vacuum pump and empty the entire system before adding replacement freon. HOWEVER, if you have already added freon and do not have access to a vacuum pump, just bleed out the air and freon at any convenient point, the freon will push out the air leaving only freon vapor, then recharge with new freon and you will be…
Modern auto A/C sytems use R134a refridgerant not freon or R12. Add refridgerant to your system by accessing the "low side" fitting. It is located on the accumulator/drier near the firewall on the passenger side. The high side is near the battery on the driver side. There is no way to get them mixed up because the fittings are different sizes.
There is many different types of Freon. If the freon that you are trying to use is R-22 then you have to have a EPA certification to handle that freon. This freon is considered ozone depleteing. Now there is freon out there that is not ozone depleting like the freon in cars made after 1993. That is called R-134a which is sold everywhere even in Wal-Mart.
The compressor itself will cost about 200 with labor. But, that's probably not the problem, you probably just need some freon or whatever the stuff is that they use now. Its about 100. It runs out because of a pin sized hole anywhere in the unit. To find and fix the hole is expensive, because they have to go on thru the dash board, and it's expensive. If the van is old, then it's not…
A leak is the only way to loose volume of the freon charge. Freon is in a sealed system and it does not get used up. If your system is tight the freon will last forever. However a restriction in the freon lines can cause the freon pressure on the low side to look like it is low but the freon is really stacking up in the condensor.
How do I know if my 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood brougham RWD ac compressor is locked up or just needs freon?
The belt has been squaling for the last 2 days. This morning the compressor pulley locked down and ruined the belt. The belt started smoking. It was blowing hot air and I am sure needed freon before this. I took off the serpentine belt and tried to turn the pulley on the compressor. It is locked down tight. Was there a safety feature on these compressors when they got low on freon, to lock down…
