Looking in front of you car with the hood open..
towards the left side you'll see the belts and pulleys. Looking down the highest will be the Power Steering, then the water pump and then the AC compressor.
The water pump is closer to the engine with 4 bolts on the side of the pulley and the belt that it has runs from that to the alternator and back to the engine.
you do nothing
Could you tell me how would you replace the oil pump on a Mazda Protege?
Replacing the 1997 Mazda water pump will cost approximately $300. The water pump will cost about $75 and will require four hours of labor.
This year Mazda protege does not have a serpentine belt. It has two belts, one for the alternator/water pump, and the other for the power steering and a/c.
Right on the power steering pump. pointing to the front of the car.
powersteering belt off first, then water pump, each has its own ten.
You will need to drop the fuel tank and get close to fuel pump. Its a 100k mile part, based on Mazda
Check the engine thermostat.
In the gas tank.
The water pump is under the timing belt cover. To access the water pump, you must first remove both belts, the water pump pully, and the timing belt cover.
in the petrol tank
From what i understand its built in to the fuel tank and pump, should be replaced around 100k miles
