The 1988 Jeep windshield wiper motor is located on the firewall in the engine compartment. The wiper motor will be in the center of the firewall.

The wiper motor is mounted on the left inside of the windshield frame on the same bracket as the VIN. Fold down the windshield and is fully accessible.

The wiper motor is on the driver's side, behind the dash board. if you fold you front windshield down, that will expose your wiper motor.
Take the wiper arms off. Then undo your windshield so that it folds down onto hood. Remove the three screws holding the wiper motor on. disconnect the wiper drive link. remove the wire clip from bottom on the windshield frame. Take out the 4 screws on the bottom of windshield that hold on the seal. (they get in the way of pullin the motor out). Pull the motor and link out through the access hole. Pry the link off the motor pivot. Do not remove the crank arm adjusting nut though. That's it. Sounds way harder than it is.
