There's a single brown wire ussualy near the booster. Unplug that wire. Use a timing light to set the timing to zero and plug the wire back in.
possible timing issue or maybe it has that little wire you have to unplug u know the brown with black strip under glovebox when u set timing called set time wire
It has timing chain and gears. NO belt.
There should be a sticker on the fan shroud telling you which wire to disconnect. On the older tbi motors it was tan with a black stripe i believe. Disconnect this wire, the loosen the dist. bolt and check the timing with a timing gun. Rotate the dist. until you get the desired timing then tighten the dist. bolt and connect the tan wire. On a vortec engine you have to have a engine scanner to adjust the timing. But if there is no check engine light on then the timing is correct all ready. It is controled by the computor, There is no ajustment needed.
theres a brown wiring at the distriputor unplug it and rimte it at 10 advanced then plug the wire back in
You have to unplug the distributor advance wire, it's a tan or brown colored wire, set to 0 (or up to about 8 advance) then reconnect the wire.
It requires an engine scanner to set the timing on that year engine.
You can if you want too, It will go right on there.
I could be wrong, but I have a Vortec 350 in a GMC truck and I think the computer handles the ignition timing. If your talking about valve timing I would assume there are marks on the timing gears like the days of old, but I haven't torn the timing cover off of mine yet.
On the right side of the firewall in the engine compartment there is a plastic cover that is over the A/C blower and the fuel pump relay. Pull this cover and the tan wire with a black stripe is in there. Set timing normally from there.
unplug the wire brown wire with a black strip coming from your relay panel under the hood beside your A/c reservoir. time your eng and plug it back up.
sounds like a cranksenser.it will put your timing out when your under load .markstang
