As you would probably expect, "the middle of nowhere" (if it were anywhere interesting it would have to bend around landmarks). The Nullarbor Plain in Australia has a dead-straight section of track 478 km long (297 miles). By the way, "Nullarbor" means "treeless", which is a pretty apt description of the region.
