No. They are separate applications. Word comes as standard in versions of Office, and you may also get Publisher, so Word will always be there. You might just use Publisher all of the time and not Word. That is your decision and may depend on what you are doing. Publisher is a desktop publishing application and Word is a word processor, so they are used for different things.
