This can be any number of things from bad spark plugs to catalytic converter, crank or cam sensors to map sensor. Have it scanned, find out what code is stored and that will tell you the problem.

There are a number of things that can cause this, mostly electrical sensors. The first thing to check are the ABS (anti lock brake) sensors, there is one at each wheel. These are usually behind the brake rotor, and you can find them by following the wire you see near the brakes.
