It will say SRS. Should come on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition on.
Take it to a professional and have the SRS repaired. He will reset the light after the repair. Not a DIY repair.
I was looking at the 2006 Ford Escape Owner Guide and it doesn't show anything about it having a cabin air filter from the factory
I believe it is just to the left of your fan speed control knob for your heater / air conditioning

It is Illegal to remove air bags from any vehicle.
I believe that means : Intermittent or repaired driver side air bag circuit low resistance or shorted
Follow the flow of air from the air cleaner to the throttle body. You will see it.
The idle air control valve on 2005 ford escape in located under the hood on top of the throttle body. Use the manual to find help.
Check the yellow wire under the front seats one of them must be lose.
