The key word is "drain", meaning it works by gravity, so a drain value should be at the lowest point in the system. Typically there is one just past the meter.

If a lawn irrigation system is a branch of the main system it should have its' own drain valve for winterizing it.

You can purchase stop valves (or shutoff valves) with built-in drain or bleeder valves.

Replaced thermostat and still no heat in my VW Golf?

This is a common complaint with mk2 Golfs, most of which were fitted with a heater matrix bypass valves to prevent the heater matrix from bursting under certain conditions. These bypass valves can fail, cutting off supply to the heater matrix resulting in no heat. Either replace the valves or remove them and fit a heater matrix from a mk3 Golf. These are stronger units and don't require bypass valves.

Does antifreeze flow through the valves?

Cylinder head where valves are-usually. Valves themselves, no. Antifreeze passes around the engine in special chambers known as galleries. It cools the metalwork of the engine and does not (or should not) enter any part of the combustion, or intake system.

What is the purpose of shower valves?

All showers need valves. They can be for the water supply, balancing the water and control of the shower. Without the valves, your shower will leak, causing damage to the surrounding areas.

Why are each section of the heart separated by valves?

The valves keep blood flowing in one direction. And there are even valves in the veins. The system is called a circulatory system and the system must keep going in a circle to function properly.

How are timers set up in a sprinkler system?

Sprinkler systems can use many components that control the flow of the water. A plastic piping connects the water supply to the electric valves and the sprinkler.
