Raw meats (of any kind) should be stored on the lower shelves of a refrigerator so juices can't drip onto cooked food. Sealed plastic containers will help to prevent strong smelling seafoods from tainting nearby raw chicken and meat.

How do you store meat?

If you are talking about fresh meat, you can store meat well-wrapped and in sealed containers in either the refrigerator or freezer. When storing raw meat, make sure the juices cannot contaminate ready-to-eat food. That usually means it is stored separately from everything else or in the bottom of the cooler or refrigerator. Raw poultry should be stored above or separately from raw beef because beef is frequently cooked to lower temperatures than poultry.
