Mostly, domestic batteries can be recycled at what used to be the local dump. Waste management now demands that goods are recycled at end of life.
Check in your local newspaper or yellow pages, for your local recycling site.
Scrap metal merchants will give you good money for old car batteries, because of the lead and other precious metals inside. Better than giving them away at a council site. Get paid for doing the right thng.
