The night before his execution, Nathan Hale was taken to General Howe's headquarters at the Beekman Mansion. The British log says: "A spy for the enemy (by his own full confession) apprehended last night was this day executed at 11 o'clock in front of the Artillery Park" The Artillery Park is near the current 3rd and 66th streets in Manhattan.

It is said that his body was left hanging for a number of days as a warning and then buried in an unmarked grave.

Have they ever excavated to try, and locate the site?  After all that has been built over the site, I cannot believe they did not find his remains.
