Answering "Where would your transmission fluid be leaking from on a 1994 Honda civic thats causing it to end up on your right front wheel and all under your car?"
I would recommend genuine Honda ATF from the dealer, if not i use dexron III as a temporary substitute.
The default manual transmission on a 1998 Honda Civic would be a 5-speed manual transmission. These are commonly referred to as "stick shift" cars.Ê
NO! the Si only comes in stick (manual) transmission, and as of 2006, it is a six speed transmission. i had a honda civic si with a auto trans my civic was a 99 so it might not pretain to this but just thoght i would say that there is such thing as a honda civic si auto trans
If the gears are slipping on a 1995 Honda Civic then the transmission is worn. The transmission will either soon need to be replaced or repaired.
To keep the transmission fluid cool. Without one it would overheat.
Yes. If you do not want a big mess, I would suggest draining the tranny fuild before pulling out the half-shafts (axles)
the transmission fluid pressure switch on a 03 Honda CR-V is located in the transmission housing = inside it would better to do a tran service as well
Honda Automatic transmissions use an internal filter that is designed for the life of the transmission. It is extremely rare that one would have to be changed. Also do not do a power flush on a Honda transmission as it will ruin the internal seals.
The dealer says to use only 10W30 motor oil I'm surprised a dealer would say that; even though it's a good answer. Honda MTL, which is their Manual Transmission Lubricant, is sold at Honda dealers and is recommended by the Honda literature. I recommend Mobil 1, same weight as you've got in the engine. Usually 5W30 or 10W30.
there are two filler plugs on the passenger side of the transmission, the one on the top is the filler and the lower is the drain. The plugs are unique because you only need a half inch ratchet, they are square in shape. drain the oil and service with a Honda approved 30 weight engine oil. This assumes it is a manual transmission. An automatic would have a dipstick and uses different fluid. Check your owners manual.
No. That would be a huge mistake. Buy brake fluid. Its only $2 to $8 dollars at a store.
