However, some people cannot walk. Activities than raise and sustain heart rate are good cardiovascular exercises, yet, people who cannot stand or walk, or who have heart disease, may not be able to do strenuous exercise. So, THE BEST lifelong physical activity is what a person can do, consistently, given his or her physical limitations.
