The ISC is the best block and you can increase horse power by adding Banks equipment
Cummins recomends no more than 5% bio diesel.
If you mean "Cummins 5.9L" yes it's a good engine. There is no such thing as a Cummins 6.9L. The 5.9L I-6 Cummins is known as the "B-Series". It was named #10 out of 10 as the best-diesel engines ever according to Diesel Power Magazine.
One of the best diesel injector cleaners available is Fleetguard's Asphaltene Conditioner. The cleaner is a premium fuel additive and is made by Cummins.
Mopar, Wix, Cummins.
By far the best resource or reference for a prospective car engine shopper looking for a Cummins engine is the Cummins site on the web. Other options include Diesel Rebuild Kits.
Clessie Lyle Cummins was an entrepreneur who made huge improvements on already existing diesel engines. In 1919 he invented the first "Cummins" diesel engine and received 33 United States Patent Awards for his invention. He had drastically improved previous diesel engines to make them faster, more powerful, durable, and reliable. Some well maintained cummins engines have reached over 1 million miles without any rebuilds making them the best diesel engine available until current day. -by Eric Estrada
depends on if your looking for a regular work truck or just wondering who has the most powerful diesel. If your looking for a work truck that is new or used it doesn't matter, the dodge cummins diesel has always been more powerful and longer lasting in terms of the engine and pulling capabilities. The most powerful diesel built for pulling is owned by scheid diesel motorsports, its a cummins diesel that's putting out somewheres around 1600 hp and 2200 ft lbs torque. WRONG!!! Dodge diesels are not good. Dont get me wrong Cummins is by far one of the best diesels ever made but there transmissions cant hang. Chevy has the fastest diesel and overall best diesel in the new diesel market but the 7.3 liter 1994.5 to 2003 ford powerstroke diesels are the best on the road. I have had 12 valve cummins and 24 valve cummins all were good engines but had weak transmissions. My fords have never let me down. EVER! I hate the 6.0 liter engines and the new 6.4 liter is the worst yet but trust me hands down the 7.3 is the longest lasting diesel on the road today. If you don't belive me look it up.
Here's a few million mile pickup truck diesel engines - - - 7.3L IDI International (Ford), 6.9L IDI International (Ford), 7.3L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel (Ford), and the 5.9L Cummins I-6 engine (Dodge.) Of the newest diesel engines offered in the Big 3 trucks, I'd say #1 is the 6.7L Powerstroke Diesel, #2 6.6L Duramax, #3 6.7L Cummins.
Most people say that Cummins is the best diesel engine but not with the new 6.7L offered in Dodge Ram trucks. The Ford Powerstroke Diesels put out more power than the Cummins by 40 horsepower and 85 pound feet of torque. Also, the new 6.7L Cummins engine has been known to overheat, stall, and the turbos are blowing in them at around 30,000 to 40,000 miles. The Cummins can't idle for more than 6 minutes or it will overheat and shut off and you must take it to the dealer to get the problem fixed. Let's compare. 6.4L Powerstroke diesel does not overheat, does not stall, but there ARE turbo problems with them. But that is no problem with the new 2011 6.7L Powerstroke diesel. As for Duramax, they've always been behind in quality but not power. So I'd say, here in 2010, that Powerstroke is the BEST diesel engine available in a pickup truck.
I think the DONG FENG cummins engine B series is the best choice. It uses Diesel. It has power of 92-173.Its made in china. I think china has pretty good qualified engines.
2006 was the last year of the best Diesel ever made 5.9 cummins engine 2003 was the last 5.9L V8
Considering that a diesel pickup truck can't use gas I would say that there aren't any diesel trucks that get good gas mileage. If you were wondering which diesel truck gets the highest miles per gallon then I would say you should look at the Dodge Cummins diesel.
