Despite that him and his men were exhausted and freezing from walking over the mountian, theu still won the battle. Simon was elected president of Greater Columbia, but he failed to unite the country so wars broke out for independence. Later he proclaimed himself dictator, but was betrayed by a follower and died on December 17, 1830.
