Jesus commissioned His disciples to go and preach the good news of the Kingdom of God to the "lost tribes of the House of Israel." Not to the Jews or Gentiles.

"...Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: but go rather to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand." (Matt.10:5-7)

The House of Israel were the vast majority of the Hebrew tribes who were scattered into Asia originally by Assyria [ancient Germans], approximately 130 years before the Jews went into Babylonian captivity [II Kings 17]. The House of Israel became known to history and the world as the "lost ten tribes of the House of Israel."

The Jews returned from Babylon after 70 years -- the House of Israel never did.

With the defeat and dispersal of the Assyrian empire... so were the "lost sheep" further scattered and they migrated into the European continent and the British Isles.

These tribes eventually emerged as European nations. Many of them, however, were still in and around the Asian arena at the time of the disciples.

It was to these whom Jesus sent His disciples, who also disappeared from the Bible record and world history following Jesus' ascension into heaven. After that, we read a few token names of disciples like Peter, James, John and some of their works. But, mostly we read of Paul and his commission to the Gentiles.

The "lost sheep of the House of Israel" still don't know who they are to this day -- but it was they to whom Jesus commissioned His disciples to plant the seeds of His Word, and it was they who eventually emerged in Europe as "Christ-professing nations" in what was to be called by some as the "free world."

Although this list is disputed by some... and denied by others... here is where the "lost sheep" ended up:

Reuben: France

Asher: Belgium & Luxembourg

Simeon & Levi: Scattered

Gad: Switzerland

Judah [the Jews]: Scattered & in Israel [Palestine, today]

Naphtali: Sweden

Zebulun: Holland

Ephraim: Britain

Issachar: Finland

Manasseh: the United States of America

Dan: Denmark & Ireland

Benjamin: Norway
