According to Jewish tradition, Abraham was the first Jew. He became the progenitor of the Jewish people when he renounced idolatry and demonstrated belief in one God around the year 1712 BCE.

Judiasm started in the year 2000 B.C when God called out to Abram (now known as Abraham) to follow him. many of the practices were started when Moses came down with the Ten Commandments and When God revealed the laws of the Torah. Judiasm in a form that is semi-recognizable started in 1000 B.C when King david started to collect all the works of the Prophets and the Torah to be written down, probably for the first time. This is when Jews started to call Judaism, Judaism.
