It's never really discussed, but I imagine that they had altars to Athena (since Cadmus, the city's founder was going to make a sacrifice to her when he founded the city), Ares (since the site of the city's water was protected by a great serpent sacred to Ares) and Aphrodite (since Cadmus married Harmonia, the daughter of Ares and Aphrodite).
