Except for a 3 speed Wrangler, a 2002 Jeep trans is electronically controlled and wouldn't have a governor. The 3 speed auto in a Wrangler has a governor that control what speeds the trans shifts at.
Thw wrangler got the 4 spd about 2002. The 4 spd is better for fuel economy,

auto to manual: only car they could find was an auto but they really wanted a manual, manual trans provides better fuel economy, sometime manual trans cars are quicker than auto trans cars. manual to auto: autos are easier to drive, dont know how to drive a manual and the only car they could find was a manual.

Throughout the years the manual trans and auto trans half shafts have always been different. I haven't looked up your specific car, but I doubt it would work.
no you can not tow a vehicle with an auto trans on a dolly if the drive axle is on the ground. the auto trans does not circulate fluid to the parts unless the engine is running.
