Lockerbie which is a small town in the Dumfries and Galloway region which is a very small town was bombed on the 21st December 1988. There was no real reason behind the bombing it was simply a terrorist attack. The man who was convicted of it - Abdelbaset Ail Mohmed Al Megrahi - was released on compassionate grounds on the 20 August 2009 because he has prostate cancer and only had three months left to live. There is no proof he did it and he is currently still alive.

The only other attempt at bombing Scotland was the failed attack at Glasgow Airport in 2007. The only person who died was the man who drove the car into the doors of Glasgow Airport terminal and set the building on fire. This happened on Saturday 30th June 2007.
