there were many factors in the rise to power of Adolf Hitler these include;

the wall street crash and subsequent, worldwide depression this caused mass unemployment, the voters of Germany liked Hitler because one of his domestic aims was to get rid of unemployment in Germany. another factor was the rise of communism, the voters of Germany liked Hitler because one of his foreign policy aims was to abolish communism. The most important factors was the humiliating defeat of Germany in the first world war, the German voters liked Hitler because he promised to abolish the treaty of Versailles, the German people thought this was amazing because most of them hated the treaty of Versailles.

a sub-factor of this was Hitler's foreign policy of lebensraum, which stated that Hitler would get back Germany's former colonies. the voters liked this because Germany lost about 10% of it's population due to the terms of the Treaty of Versailles.

first answer: Poverty

second improved answer: The Germans were angry about how the First World War started & ended. The German people were never told the whole truth about the Great War and the Versailles Treaty. Although Germany had actually started the War in the west against France by striking first in August 1914, the German leadership never explained this to their people. Then, when victory appeared within their grasp in late 1918, Germany signed an armistice quickly ending the Great War on November 11, 1918. Hindenburg & Ludendorff (German Army leaders) never explained the truth that Germany's allies, Turkey & Austria-Hungary, were on the verge of collapse & defeat by late October 1918. Also the Allied forces had achieved a irreversible penetration of the German lines in France as American troops poured into France. American troops made the difference between victory & defeat for Germany. After the Armistice, the German Army leaders who had lost the war blamed defeat on the communist revolutionaries and other sinister internal elements inside Germany. Hitler had himself been fooled, especially by Ludendorff by 1923, leading to the Beer Hall Putsche in Munich. Given that most Germans thought that they had (1) not started the war and (2) had not lost the war, then it is reasonable to assume that they would be very unhappy with the Treaty of Versailles & the Weimar Republic for accepting the terms of peace. The dishonesty of German Army leaders & the failure to correctly understand the facts of the Great War led the German people to make bad choices in the future.
