What was the relationship between Germany and the us during ww2?

The US and Germany mostly didn't get along well prior to
December 1941. Germany was aggressively conquering other countries
in Europe, and the US was supplying Germany's enemies (England, and
later, the USSR) with weapons, ships and other military
equipment.
After December 1941, the two countries were at war with each other,
so saying they disliked each other is an understatement.

What lands did the US acquire during World War 2?

Answer The US did not enter WW2 with the purpose of acquiring
land---unlike most countries who go to war. The US and the other
Allies maintained military control of some of the countries until
order and a government could be restored. I can not think of any
land, island or body of water that the US acquired as a result of
WW2.
