which direction does a crank shaft pully bolt screw out on a 2002 honda accord lx 2.3l eng. clockwise or counterclockwise?

User Avatar

if you start engine and look under hood you will see what direction the engine runs by looking at the fan and pulley wheels

Because it's supposed to. Some turn clockwise, some counter clockwise. Why? You would have to ask the design engineer but I suspect it has to do with patent rights. A Buick and an Olds. engine could be the same design and if the distributor turns in a different direction, it can be claimed as a different design.

It depends on the manufacture of the engine.

User Avatar

Depends, some go clockwise others counter. If you crank the engine while watching the rotor you can tell.

User Avatar

As you face the engine, you need to turn the nut in a counter-clockwise direction.

User Avatar

Yes it does. Clockwise retards it. Counter clockwise advances it.

I depends on which side of the engine you are facing. The simple answer is that it turns the same way the wheels turn when the bike is going forward. If you are facing the "primary" side of the engine, it rotates counter-clockwise. If you are facing the air cleaner/exhaust side of the engine, it will be rotating clockwise.

Clockwise when looking from the belt end.

According to ( about . com and autozone . com ) The 2.7 L - V6 engine in a 1996 Honda Accord is : 1 - 4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6 The distributor rotor turns COUNTER-CLOCKWISE The engine cylinders / spark plug locations are numbered : 1----2----3 4----5----6 front of Accord

Looking from the front of the motor it is turning clockwise, sitting in drivers seat it is counter-clockwise.

User Avatar

It turns clockwise when viewed from the belt side of the engine.

the firing order is the same as Chevy 350 except opposite rotation instead of clockwise it is counter clockwise

clockwise, if you're looking at the front of the engine

User Avatar

counter clockwise. That is once you'ved braced the engine so it won't turn when you try to undo it.

User Avatar

i don't know when this question was posted but to answer your question more than likely your planetary gear is messed up. The planetary gear is that part of the transmission that take the single direction "clockwise" movement of the engine and convert it to "counter clockwise" motion
