The solution is simply to put a jack under the engine to support it, then remove the engine mounting bolts and use the jack to lift the engine enough to get the water pump out from the top of the engine. Then put the new one in, tighten the bolts and put on the belt again. Then lower the engine and put on the engine mounting bolts.
