spermatogonia ----> spermatocytes ------> spermatids -----> sperm
There a number of steps involved in spermatogenesis process. The first one mitosis then the second stage is meiosis 1 followed by meiosis 2 and then spemiogenesis and finally the spermiation stage.
A tube grows from the pollen down to the egg cells in the bottom of the pistil. Special cells called sperm cells travel down the tube and join the egg cells. This joining of cells is called fertilization. Fertilization is the first step of making a new plant. Each egg or sperm has only half amount of DNA found in other cells. When an egg and sperm join, they make one whole set of DNA. As the days pass , the fertilized egg will grow divide many times and change. the result is a seed with a tiny multicellular plant inside.
After pollination, the pollen grains germinate and form a pollen tube that grows through the style towards the ovary. Once the pollen tube reaches the ovary, it enters the embryo sac and delivers the sperm cells. Fertilization occurs when one sperm cell fuses with the egg cell to form a zygote, while another sperm cell fuses with a polar nucleus to form the endosperm, which provides nourishment to the developing embryo.

Mitosis refers to the process of cellular reproduction of somatic (body) cells. All the cells of the body, with the exception of sperm and egg cells, reproduce this way. Meiosis is the production of germ cells (sperm and egg) in most animals and plants, to include humans. There is a lot more involved in each process; for instance, mitosis involves a number of steps (4-5 depending upon what is included) to get the chromosomes tightly wound so they will be easier to separate, chromosomal migration to the "equator" of the cell, formation of spindle fibers to attach to the centromere of each chromosome, etc. The same goes for meiosis, with additional steps to produce the germ cells with half the chromosomal compliment of somatic cells.
Sperm cells forms the two interrelated processor. The initial steps before the cell specialized into spermatozoa are mitosis and meiosis. Overall the process is known as spermatogenesis.
