Well there not called earthquake waves. They are called "seismic waves."
There are 3 types of them P- and S-waves. Also Surface waves, those are the most detructive ones. The _waves are the least destructive ones. They are the ones you feel right before a earthquake.
I'm 11 just so u peoples know...................i sounded like a teacher huh....peace peoples!!!!! :)
In general, the lower on the scale, the less destructive.
The least destructive of the seismic waves are the P-waves as they have the lowest amplitude of the seismic waves.
There are plenty of earthquakes that are so weak the if it wasn't for measuring instruments, we would never have noticed them.
measuring 0 in the Richer Scale
Seismic waves occur when there is an earthquake.
The last seismic waves to arrive are surface waves.
Primary waves are seismic waves and the arrive first after an earthquake occurs.
Primary seismic waves are longitudinal waves. Longitudinal waves can travel through solids, liquids and gasses (although seismic waves are of to low a frequency to normally be heard). Secondary seismic waves are transverse waves and only travel through solids.
P-waves are the first to arrive at a seismic station. There are two major types of waves: Body waves and surface waves. P-waves and S-waves come under Body waves while Love and Rayleigh waves come under surface waves. Body waves are much faster than the Surface waves. Waves are detected in the following order: P, S, Love and Rayleigh
The Surface waves (of which there are two - the Love and Rayleigh waves) are the most destructive seismic waves as they have the largest amplitude.Surface waves cause the most damage as they have the largest amplitude of all the seismic waves.S Wave.yhuk
destructive most of the time
The Surface waves (of which there are two - the Love and Rayleigh waves) are the most destructive seismic waves as they have the largest amplitude.Surface waves cause the most damage as they have the largest amplitude of all the seismic waves.S Wave.yhuk
technically any seismic wave can destroy a building, but the one most likely to do it are the surface waves
Destructive plate boundary.
The Love and Rayleigh waves (collectively known as surface waves) are the slowest moving but most damaging of the seismic waves.
Secondary seismic waves travel slower than primary waves but they are much more destructive. Thus it carries more energy.
Its is called a Tsunami.
Which of the following is correct with respect to seismic waves? (1 point)The fastest waves are S-waves, followed by P-waves, and then surface waves. Both primary and secondary waves are seismic waves, but surface waves are not seismic waves.Primary waves can travel through solids and liquids. Secondary waves can ony travel through solids.Primary waves are the most destructive because of their circular and rolling motion on Earth's surface.
The surface waves (composed in turn of the Rayleigh and Love waves) are the slowest seismic waves.
Secondary seismic waves travel slower than primary waves but they are much more destructive. Thus it carries more energy.
Seismic waves are any waves that travel through the Earth. As such all earthquake waves are seismic waves, however not all seismic waves are caused by earthquakes.
