The Assyrians never conquered Kush though they claimed they did. They conquered Egypt which was being ruled by Kush at the time but they did not conquer Kush and there is no evidence that reached as far south as Meroe
The Romans only claimed to have got as far as Napata when they fought with Kush centuries later
The only civilization that might have reached as far south into Kush as Meroe was the Persians
