It would depend on the Rabbi... but I have been to many weddings between Jew and Gentile, some were officiated by a Rabbi and some jointly with a priest and rabbi.

Can a Marriage take place in a temple between a Jewish and non Jewish person?

This is a rather controversial issue in Judaism. There are different denominations in Judaism...so, the answer -- in Orthodox and Conservative Judaism, "no."In Reform and Reconstructionist, the answer varies depending on the specific congregation and rabbi. It is possible to find a rabbi who will officiate at a wedding between a Jew and gentile in a temple. Many rabbis who do officiate at interfaith weddings have criteria... e.g., s/he might only officiate if both partners agree to raise any children born as Jews. Or s/he might specify that it will be a Jewish ceremony, not an interfaith one. There are a small number of rabbis and cantors who will officiate at any wedding, with no criteria. If you ask around, you will discover, however, that many Reform rabbis will not officiate at an interfaith ceremony. Hopefully, all of them will be willing to explain to you their reasons, and be warm and kind. Even rabbis who feel they cannot officiate at an interfaith wedding will warmly welcome the newlyweds to join and participate in their temple after the wedding, and almost all Reform congregations have many, many interfaith couples as active members and also usually have programs specifically geared towards interfaith couples. While planning a wedding may (or may not) have challenges, being involved in Jewish life afterwards, an interfaith couple will be welcome and well supported.Jewish answerHopefully not. Intermarriage is gradually causing the disappearance of broad segments of the Jewish people. In addition to the Torah's prohibition against intermarriage, there are very many cases in which the spouses use the religious difference as fuel to add to the flames once they're already fighting over other matters. Maintaining a marriage is hard enough without the interfering factor of different religious backgrounds. Also, there is the question of how to raise the children. A seemingly kumbaya-type peace-loving interfaith education very often turns out to be confusing to the children, who now have no complete identity. Statistics show that mixed-marriage children are less likely to practice any religion at all, than are their single-faith peers (even those of minimally-religious homes). In actual practice, intermarriage amounts to assimilation, the product of which is descendants who may no longer see themselves as part of the religious heritage of either parent.

What religion is a rabbi?

Rabbis are the clergy of Judaism.[Note: Some envengelical Christian groups refer to their ministers as rabbis in an attempt to blend their practices with Judaism. This is not considered a valid use of the title from the Jewish perspective.]

What does a rabbi do in a synogogue?

“Rabbi“ translates to “teacher,” and it is exactly what rabbis are. Like most other clergy, rabbis lead congregations and prayers, interpret the ancient text (in this case, the Tanakh/Old Testament and other Jewish texts), and officiate ceremonies. They teach classes for children about Jewish history, may teach and translate Hebrew, go to hospitals, and may officiate ceremonies such as checking mezuzah, b‘nai mitzvahs, and burying old scrolls that can no longer be used. Basically, they do what any clergy do, but they do it in a way that is specific to Judaism.

Why did James Brolin and Barbra Streisand have a Jewish wedding when he isn't Jewish?

What are the characteristics of a rabbi?

Rabbis are a diverse demographic. In general terms, however, Rabbis tend to be married and have a large family, to have gone to Yeshiva and to learn Torah in the present as well, at least part-time; and in many cases to teach Torah and/or to be at the helm of a congregation. Most Rabbis see it as a calling of theirs to answer questions in Jewish law; and many times they provide such services to their congregants as personal and marriage counseling. Many Rabbis officiate at Jewish weddings and the like.

Who is the Judaism's holy man?

There are no 'holy' people in Judaism. We worship only G-d. We have Rabbis, and they lead Synagogue services and officiate at weddings etc. But they are ordinary people, equal with all other Jews and all other humans. They do not act as intermediaries between us and G-d, we speak directly to G-d. Rabbis are, above all, scholars, and are well versed in Torah and Talmud. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can a conservative Jew or an Orthodox Jew be pro-LGBT?

The Conservative movement moved to allow ordination of gay, bisexual and lesbian rabbis in 2006 and to allow Conservative rabbis to officiate at same-sex marriages in 2012. They have not yet reached a position of full marriage equality because of technical halachic (legal under Jewish law) questions about the definition of same-sex marriage, but this has few practical consequences. It is up to each Conservative rabbi whether to agree to perform such marriages, and up to each congretation whether to host such occasions.Individual Orthodox Jews may be pro-LGBT, but there has been no movement on these issues by the institutions that guide Orthodox Judaism.

Do Jews Christians and Muslims have preachers?

Yes. Christian, Jewish, and Muslim services are all led by preachers. Christians call them priests (catholic) or pastors (protestant). Jews call them rabbis. Muslims call them imams. The previous answer is incorrect. Imams and Rabbis are not considered preachers. They are considered teachers. The concept of "preaching" is purely Christian in practice.
