There are many landforms in the state of New Mexico. Some of the major ones are the Rocky Mountains, the Rio Grande and the Colorado Plateau.
Colorado River
The Rio Grande (sometimes called the Rio Bravo or Rio Bravo del Norte) originates in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and flows into the Gulf of Mexico. Rockie Mountains
The Mississippi River is west from the Rocky Mountains. The Rocky Mountains are on the western coast of the USA, and the Mississippi river is in the middle of the USA. Therefore, the Mississippi River is west from the Rocky Mountains.
